Conor McGregor shams competitors who unleash follow-up strikes after knocking down an opponent
Conor McGregor is widely popular for his highlight reel knockouts. The Irishman has delivered some of the most exciting moments in the UFC over the years, and now that he’s back, he promises to deliver more. If history has taught us one thing, it’s that McGregor relishes his exploits and often takes time to break them down systematically in elaborate analysis.
McGregor is currently shooting for The Ultimate Fighter in Las Vegas, in which he’s cast as a rival coach opposite lightweight kingpin Michael Chandler. ‘The Notorious’ has assured his loyal fans that they can expect a sharper, more lethal version of him when he finally graces the octagon again.
Recently, he shed light on his apprehension for fighters who launch follow up strikes on downed opponents. It is customary for McGregor to knock down his opponents and Billy Strut his way through the octagon while posing for the camera.
McGregor wrote on Twitter:
“I was never going to hit here. Fighters that do this are dishonorable in my opinion. It’s so much smoother to recognize the KO and billi walk off.”
Conor McGregor has engaged in several Twitter tirades in the past. It is common practice for the Irishman to insult his opponents and threaten them if they form an opinion that does not please him.
Former double-champion Conor McGregor has returned to action in the capacity of a coach and is already generating headlines. His coaching gig on “The Ultimate Fighter 31,” pitting Team McGregor against Michael Chandler’s team, has received a lot of attention. However, Tom Aspinall, a heavyweight contender in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, claimed that he is not excited about this. This irked a strong reaction out of ‘The Notorious’ who threatened to kill Aspinall.
Aspinall said he wasn’t too keen on McGregor rematching Chandler and instead preferred other fights on the card, such as the most recent installment of UFC London. McGregor was offended by what he had to say and fired off an angry tweet.
However, heavyweight contender Aspinall has issued an apology, suggesting that he never meant to disrespect McGregor’s return:
“Conor told me not to speak about him anymore so I’m going to respect that. “I am not going talk about him no more if that’s the case. I didn’t disrespect him in any way. I would never disrespect him or anybody, you know what I mean. You’ve met me plenty times and I’m not that kind of character. I wouldn’t disrespect anyone, especially someone like him who’s a massive pioneer of the sport.”
