TJ Dillashaw re-entered the top-half of the UFC bantamweight rankings following his win over Cory Sandhagen

TJ Dillashaw returned with a bang. Following an absence of more than 2 and a half years due to a drug ban, the former two-time bantamweight champion took on the up and coming Cory Sandhagen – a major threat in the bantamweight division.

However, the victory was hard-earned. Dillashaw had to huff and puff his way to the win, as he earned a narrow split-decision victory. He called out Petr Yan and Aljamain Sterling following his win.

Dillashaw took to Instagram to confirm that he will have to undergo surgery to repair the “Bucket Handle tear of the Lateral Meniscus and Lateral Collateral Ligament.

Here is what Dillashaw’s post read.

“No place like home, this right here brings me all the joy I need. #daddyshome. Went in for a mri today, found out that I suffered a displaced Bucket Handle tear of the Lateral Meniscus and a Lateral Collateral Ligament (LCL) rupture at the end of the first round landing ground and pound while being lazy in a compromised position. The good news is that these tears are repairable and will have a very speedy recovery. Going in for surgery in the next couple days. Loved being in the cage even though I had to push through some adversities to grit out the win. Thank you for the support, it’s belt season now.”
