UFC heavyweight contender Tom Aspinall teases potential fight news amidst claims that he will headline the July UK card
The UFC wants to replicate the massive success of UFC London with a Tom Aspinall main event in their rumored UFC Liverpool event in July. The O2 Arena hosted one of the biggest fight night cards in UFC history with action-packed fights, an electrifying crowd, and the dawning of new superstars from the UK.
Although Paddy Pimblett was the star of the show, his performance did raise a few questions, something that cannot be said of Aspinall’s performance. The heavyweight fighter absolutely dismantled his opponent, and showed promise in every department.
The star of the show called out Tai Tuivasa after his win, and the UFC top brass were sold on the idea. Aspinall has now posted a picture of him on Instagram, preparing for a fight and captioned the post, ‘ Massive fight in the works 😁😁😁😁’
Aspinall made an appearance on the MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, and spoke about his last outing in the octagon, his influences, and future plans. Aspinall also shared his views on why GSP is the greatest fighter of all time, and his opinion of Stipe Miocic.
Sharing his thoughts on the GOAT debate, and how the child inside him was blooming with joy when GSP commented on his post, Aspinall said, “Of course he’s No. 1, who else is it gonna be? This is what I think: To be the greatest of all time, this is gonna sound like madness, but GSP first of all did it in two weight divisions. Also, GSP had some bad losses and came back. To me, that is a sign of a real champion. Of course you can be like Khabib, and you can be all the rest of it, and that’s brilliant, but what does he do under the adversity? We still don’t know because he’s that much better than everybody else. But in my opinion, two weights, that’s the difference. The two weights.”
Speaking on the heavyweight GOAT debate, “In my opinion, Stipe is the best heavyweight of all-time,” Aspinall said. “I think he deserves an instant rematch. Stipe doesn’t get the love he deserves, in my opinion.”
