Tony Ferguson is confident about beating Beneil Dariush at UFC 262
Ferguson takes on Dariush in the co-main event of UFC 262.
A lot is at stake for ‘El Cucuy’ as he will be looking forward to preventing himself from falling into deeper pits. He is already on a two-fight skid.
And his opponent, Dariush has been enjoying a period of massive success over the last three years.
Dariush hasn’t lost a fight since succumbing to an Alexander Hernandez punch at UFC 222, way back in March 2018. He will be hoping to increase his win streak to seven.
More recently, Ferguson caught up with the Schmo backstage after the pre-fight press conference. Although Ferguson sounded worried that he should have got the lightweight title shot a long time ago, he stated that he just had only one thing in mind – UFC 262.
‘El Cucuy’ also claimed that he has got the know-how to get past the Iranian, Dariush.
Ferguson told the Schmo:
“We have a problem with UFC 262 – Beneil Dariush, and I got the solution for that b*tch.”
Ferguson might not be in the form of his life, but he surely is one tough dude. Despite losing his last two fights, he showed how much of a fight he can put up even when he is being dominated by his opponents.
During his fight against Justin Gaethje at UFC 249, Ferguson had his incredible 12-fight win streak snapped. But that was not before he put on a warrior’s performance, despite receiving a massive beating from ‘The Highlight’.
A bloodied and groggy Ferguson fought on almost to entirety, just when a barrage of strikes from Gaethje sent ‘El Cucuy’ crashing into the cage, only for the referee to wave off the fight. This was the first time Ferguson was ever finished in his MMA career. He would have gone on had the referee not intervened.
He then came up against Charles Oliveira at UFC 256, where Oliveira almost broke Ferguson’s arm in the first round, with an armbar. However, a resilient ‘El Cucuy’ held on for quite a long time, before being saved by the bell.
