‘El Cucuy’ Tony Ferguson wants the ‘officially retired’ Khabib Nurmagomedov to sign the fight contract.
Dubbed the most cursed fight in the history of the UFC, Ferguson and Khabib have been scheduled to fight a mind-boggling 5 times. But, the fight never came to fruition for one reason or another.
Despite the fact that Khabib retired recently, ‘El Cucuy’ is determined to fight the Russian at least once.
Sending a message with an emotional tinge referring to Khabib’s late father, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov considering the fight the most important in UFC history, ‘The Boogeyman’ has urged the Dagestani to sign the fight contract.
Speaking in a recent episode of Ariel Helwani’s MMA show, Ferguson claimed that he was getting closer to fighting Khabib, asking the already retired Russian to quit running.
‘I’m getting closer to Khabib and that’s the only fight that his pops wanted for him and that’s the only fight that they agreed to still…But he’s gonna watch man. They’re gonna try to get as much film on me as they possibly can…Quit being a b***h, quit running, f**g sign on the dotted line, Khabib.”
Khabib has always been a man of his word. No amount of money would ever entice him. And, despite the ‘Eagle’ having a lot of respect for Ferguson, there is little-to-no chance of the fight ever happening.
‘El Cucuy’ has his hands full right now. He has been busy training for his high-voltage clash against the tough Beneil Dariush at UFC 262, next month.
The 37-year old is on a two-fight skid right now – Tony has never lost two fights in a row in his entire career. In a bid to get back to winning ways, Tony recently began training with legendary boxing trainer Freddie Roach.
And in the wake of this, coach Khabib, as he is called now, has warned Ferguson to not take the Iranian lightly. Before wishing Ferguson the best of luck, Khabib called Dariush the most underestimated fighter in the lightweight division.
