Tony Ferguson wants to get into shape for UFC 249 despite the fight getting cancelled

UFC Lightweight star Tony Ferguson is an enigma, inside and outside the Octagon. The American is known for his crazy fighting style and even his weird training methods.

He always seems ready to take a risk and never backs down from a fight. That was on show ahead of UFC 249 as he was first set to face Khabib Nurmagomedov for the Lightweight title.

However, that was changed at the last minute with Justin Gaethje replacing Khabib, who was stuck in Russia.

Normally, a fighter would pull out if his opponent is changed a couple of weeks before the clash, but Ferguson was more than ready.

However, all UFC fights have been cancelled but the memo doesn’t seem to have reached Ferguson.

The American recently shared a few photos on social media and claimed he was getting ready for a weight cut.

There was a similar post from him a few hours earlier where he carried the UFC 249 hashtag and spoke about practising for the fight too.

When will Ferguson fight next?

While the American tries to stay in shape, there is no guarantee when the UFC will be back.

Dana White said he was working on getting his private UFC island in hopes of hosting international fights but the ones inside the USA seem off.

Disney and ESPN pulled the plug on UFC 249 with less than a week to go. And it will be interesting to see when UFC action returns.

However, one thing is a guarantee and that is Ferguson continuing to work and being in fantastic shape whenever he is called up to fight next.
