Justin Gaethje shared some comments on Dustin Poirier vs Dan Hooker and Tony Ferguson was not pleased
Tony Ferguson might have lost to Justin Gaethje at UFC 249 but El Cucuy still is as sharp as ever.
The former interim UFC Lightweight Champion hasn’t spoken out much since the loss to Gaethje.
However, he did have his say on his rival recently. The new interim Champion was impressed with the Dan Hooker vs Dustin Poirier fight. Some have claimed this to be one of the best fights of the year, and Gaethje had his say regarding this.
The interim champion lauded Poirier for the win and claimed that Hooker could sit at the “big dog table”.
Gaethje had predicted that Poirier was going to defeat Hooker, and while that did happen, the Hangman seems to have earned the respect of the interim champ.
Ferguson wasn’t happy with the comments shared by Gaethje and launched a verbal attack on social media:
“Saved Sports So You Could Be Able To Compete Again. You’re Acting Like Ur Coach Told Ya Not To Be. Run It Back Without My Three Previous Practice Partners Helping You. Old Camps Reign TC # M. Lopez # DeathclutchMMA R. Namajunas. P. Barry
“BTW Much Better Tracker Than Hunter”

Ferguson hinting at rematch?
El Cucuy’s tweet might be difficult to understand but it basically said he saved the UFC as no fights were going on at that time due to the coronavirus.
He also asked Gaethje to stop acting like a coach and sharing comments. Ferguson also hinted that his rival did well at UFC 249 simply because he was training with his ex-partners and that would have provided him with an edge.
Further, the last bit of his tweet was interesting as he hinted that he would be keen on a rematch too.
However, it is unlikely that will happen anytime soon. Gaethje will fight against the defending champion Khabib Nurmagomedov for the undisputed title later on in the year.
Ferguson was to face Khabib initially for the title at UFC 249. However, the Russian was stuck in his homeland due to the coronavirus and could not make it to the US.
Gaethje was a late replacement for the clash and defeated Ferguson in a dominant display. It could have been a different story had Ferguson been training first for Gaethje rather than Khabib.
