Tony Ferguson might be on a losing streak but he still wants a piece of Khabib Nurmagomedov

Former UFC interim Lightweight Champion Tony Ferguson has not had the best of times in the Octagon.

El Cucuy has lost his last four fights and all of those have been hammerings. While Ferguson is aiming for a comeback, he still has time to revisit a fight that never took place.

Almost every MMA fan knows about the cursed Ferguson vs Khabib Nurmagomedov fight, and well, El Cucuy has been calling out the retired Nurmagomedov for a while.

He did so again recently but took a shot at Nurmagomedov’s agent and manager, Ali Abdelaziz as well.

Ferguson mashed up two popular memes where he is representing the grim reaper but it is Abdelaziz who is saving Nurmagomedov.

This is what Tony Ferguson posted on his Instagram stories (Tony Ferguson Instagram)

Will Tony Ferguson ever face Khabib Nurmagomedov?

The short and simple answer to that question is a no. Nurmagomedov retired in 2020 after defeating Justin Gaethje at UFC 254.

The former UFC Lightweight Champion even started his own fighting promotion Eagle FC during this time.

Nurmagomedov has iterated time and again that he is not interested in returning to the Octagon. However, the Russian keeps training and is also coaching several Dagestani fighters, some of whom are in the UFC.

Ferguson, for his part, has to get back to winning ways. It seems unlikely that he will get a big name since he is on a four-fight losing skid.

El Cucuy was viciously knocked out by Michael Chandler at UFC 274. However, that hasn’t hurt his confidence and it will be interesting to see who he faces in his next outing.

Ferguson has been asking Dana White for a fight next, and we might get to see the American back in action soon.
