Tony Ferguson is going nowhere, after talks of his retirement emerge
Ferguson was battered by Dariush in the co-main event of UFC 262.
Just like he was clueless against Charles Oliveira at UFC 256, ‘El Cucuy’ was unable to produce even a single moment of significance, barring a point in the second round where he refused to submit to a heel-hook.
He succumbed to a unanimous decision victory after being mauled on the ground by the Iranian. It was his third straight loss, the first time in his career.
A lot of questions were raised after the fight regarding the future of the former interim lightweight champion. But Ferguson himself has stated that he’s not going anywhere and that he has “just begun.”
Quoting from the movie ‘Happy Gilmore’, Ferguson wrote on Twitter:

Beneil Dariush hopes Tony Ferguson is fine after his heel hook attempt
Dariush executed a deep heel hook in the second round of the fight. Ferguson grimaced and writhed in pain, but never tapped out. And several seconds later he had escaped from the clutches of the Iranian.
At the post-fight press conference, Dariush hoped that Ferguson was fine, since he had heard ‘El Cucuy’s knee popping.
“I don’t even wanna guess man [how worse the injury could be]. I hope nothing happened to his knee. That’s where your ACL goes, when you go for a heel hook and it pops like that, your ACL can be gone. I know he is a super human. We’ve heard it over and over again. I don’t want that on anybody…I hope he is fine.”
The win has pushed Dariush 6 places ahead, and he currently sits at number 3 in the lightweight rankings. Another win and the Iranian might surely put himself in the title picture.
