Tony Ferguson hadn’t won a single round in his last three fights, but looked like he didn’t miss a beat in the first round. The first round felt like a flashback to the times when Tony would dismantle and systematically break down his opponents. While fans were reminiscing while watching Tony outstrike Chandler, the ‘El Cucuy’ dropped Chandler with a stinging left hook that dropped Chandler, and also blurred his vision momentarily.

The second round began with Chandler coming in hot, guns blazing, and landed one of the greatest front kick knockouts that stifled Ferguson, and stunned the entire arena. Chandler observed that Tony had his hands to the side, which opened up hooks for him. In making this read, Chandler planted a perfectly timed front leg kick that knocked Tony off senses, out cold.

Detailing memories of this horrific knockout, Tony said, “I took a big kick to the dome this past Saturday inside that Octagon. It put me out for a long time,” wrote Ferguson on Instagram. “It was a scary feeling not remembering anything from beginning of second round all the way until I walked up to the ambulance. I thank God every day I made the trip back to reality.

“All jokes aside, I didn’t mean to scare you all, should have done things different like keep my ‘hands up and chin down’. My fault I lost, props to Chandler for the highlight reel [sic] finish. I have many things to work on, not just competing. One battle at a time.”

Tony Ferguson’s devastating loss had everyone worried for his health. Especially given the fact that Tony hasn’t won a single fight or round in his previous four outings. However the ‘El Cucuy’ has been at his usual conceited best on Twitter.

Former double champion Daniel Cormier was announced to be inducted into the modern wing of Hall of Fame 2022. And while everyone started congratulating the American on his illustrious career, Ferguson poked fun at his ‘towel-gate’ incident, in the aftermath of Charles Oiveira missing weight at UFC 274.

Tony posted a tweet saying, ‘ How Not to Make Weight Ladies & Gentlemen. Shoulda Stripped Em’ Like They Did @CharlesDoBronxs Shout Out To All Those Doin’ It Right & Keepin’ The Sport Clean  – Champ  -CSO-  # CuttingWeight Feeling Great  @espnmma’

A visibly perturbed and distressed Daniel Cormier urged that Tony should use this time to reflect on his humbling loss, and said, ‘ Tony please stop. Go and sit back for a little, tuck your head in a hole somewhere. Regroup man , recover spend some time with your family. Like just please stop! I plead with you. It is not a good look. Like you’re making me sad.’
