Tony Ferguson lost in brutal fashion to Beneil Dariush and provided an update on his future after UFC 262

Tony Ferguson is one of the biggest names in the UFC world but he has been on a bit of a slide.

El Cucuy came into his UFC 262 match against Beneil Dariush on a two-fight losing streak.

The losses weren’t as much of a problem as the nature of those beatings. Charles Oliveira and Justin Gaethje dominated Ferguson and El Cucuy promised a return to his former destructive self.

However, things didn’t really go his way. Dariush was hit a couple of times but the Iranian-American dominated Ferguson with his wrestling.

There was a crazy moment in the clash too where Dariush had Ferguson locked in a heel hook. Ferguson screamed in pain but did not tap. This was similar to him keeping his arm in one piece during the loss to Oliveira a few months back.

Dariush was also shocked that Ferguson didn’t tap and believed there could have been some big damage done to his legs.

Many even believed that Ferguson would be close to retirement after this loss but El Cucuy has hinted that he might not be done yet.

He posted a few photos on social media and claimed he was never going to tap. El Cucuy also used an image of give up and retirement, but this doesn’t seem to be a message that he is stopping.

Is Tony Ferguson really going to retire?

Losses hurt all the time but the nature of these have shown that Ferguson needs to look at how he is dealing with his rivals.

There is no doubt he will go down as one of the best ever but the performances are waning now. Ferguson also didn’t provide a proper update regarding his leg, and it will be interesting to see what is next for him.

Ferguson has rejected talks of retirement after his loss to Oliveira. He doesn’t seem to be retiring at the moment and he might have one more big fight left in him.
