Justin Gaethje defeated Tony Ferguson at UFC 249 and won the interim Lightweight title

Jiu-Jitsu legend Eddie Bravo spoke about the Tony Ferguson vs Justin Gaethje fight at UFC 249.

It was Gaethje who defeated one of Bravo’s students and Ferguson was left to contemplate on what could have been.

Ferguson was to fight Khabib Nurmagomedov for the Lightweight title before the coronavirus pandemic halted that.

Instead, he got an interim bout against Gaethje and was easily defeated his rival. While Ferguson suffered a lot of facial injuries and might never get another shot at the title, Bravo claimed his student was still a winner.

Bravo was speaking on the Joe Rogan Experience and highlight that Ferguson’s ‘Champ S*** Only’ tag also takes place outside the Octagon:

“His ‘Champ S*** Only’ that’s in his losses too.

“Every body in the world is suffering financially and I got to go in there and make a whole bunch of money and my family’s secure.

“I lost technically but I won in life, I am winning. I am ready to go back and do it again.

“He seriously feels great.”

Ferguson doesn’t feel down

Bravo’s suggestions that Ferguson was feeling great seems to be spot on. The American posted several photos of his gruesome injuries from the UFC 249 fight.

However, he also shared a video of him dancing in the hospital where he was admitted. Ferguson went on to post another update on social media confirming that he didn’t need to undergo any surgery either.

The former interim Lightweight champion certainly has achieved a lot in his MMA career, but he may never win the top prize.

However, Bravo’s comments on Ferguson winning in life are true. He will go down as one of the greatest MMA fighters of all time, and Ferguson certainly has banked a lot of money thanks to some impressive performances.
