Khabib Nurmagomedov had retired from the UFC a few months back but Dana White made the retirement official
It is over. One of the greatest MMA stars of all-time has finally retired with the UFC president breaking the news.
Khabib Nurmagomedov had actually retired after defeating Justin Gaethje and keeping the belt at UFC 255. However, Dana White wasn’t accepting this and kept prodding to ensure the Russian would return.
The UFC president held several meetings with the undefeated Lightweight champion over the past few months.
However, all of that didn’t work out for White. Khabib moved into coaching and now White posted a statement that The Eagle is done with fighting.
“29-0 it is.
“He is 100% officially retired. It was incredible to watch you work @TeamKhabib thank you for EVERYTHING and enjoy whatever is next my friend.”
This would come as a bit of a blow to White who believed that Khabib would make a return and fight a 30th clash.
Georges St-Pierre was one name that was brought up for the super fight. However, it seems that will never happen.
Khabib still remains one of the greatest fighters of all-time and it will be difficult for someone to match his record.

Many from Khabib’s side had claimed that the Russian would not return since he made a promise to his mother.
This came before the Gaethje fight and after his father, Abdulmanap, had passed away. However, Khabib is doing a fine job of training others and helped his friend, Islam Makhachev, to a win over Drew Dober.
The Russian also has his own promotion to look after and has started some other business ventures. He still trains when he has free time but for now, he is done with fighting.
Many UFC fans praised Khabib for all he had done over the years. The Russian remains an excellent role model for youngsters but some fans took a bit of a shot at White.
Many had called him out when he was trying to get Khabib back and now some of them claimed that White was heartbroken after this retirement announcement.
