Conor McGregor confirmed he had talks to buy some shares of Celtic and isn’t giving up on Manchester United too
Irish MMA legend Conor McGregor decided to host an impromptu Q+A session on Twitter and that got a lot of people asking some great and some silly questions.
McGregor is one of a handful of UFC stars to hold two division belts at the same time. However, he lost his last fight to Dustin Poirier earlier in 2021.
The Irishman is set to fight Poirier in a trilogy bout in July and has started training camp for the same. This Q+A session could have been done to gain more interest from the fans and one asked him about buying out Manchester United.
McGregor had posted earlier that he wanted to buy the Premier League giants from the Glazers but the Irishman shared some other interesting information too.
He confirmed that there were talks to buy shares of Celtic, the legendary Scottish side. Celtic had dominated the Scottish League for close to a decade before Rangers won the title in tremendous fashion this time around.
McGregor also shared his desire to buy a club in the future and believed he could do some great things.
“A conversation came up regarding Celtic first to be honest. To acquire shares from Dermot Desmond. I am certainly interested in acquiring a sports team at some stage!
“Both Celtic and Man United are teams I like for sure. But I am open. I feel I could do big things for a club.”
Conor McGregor sends Twitter in a frenzy over football talk
There is no doubt that McGregor is one of the biggest names in the sports world and well, him buying a club would be something spectacular.
McGregor is known to be a character and having him as the chairman or president of a top club could see some great quotes and fireworks against their rivals.
Imagine McGregor owning Manchester United and taking shots at Liverpool and Manchester City. However, the problem with all this is money. United are valued at over $3billion but Celtic could be a more realistic option.
Many fans wanted McGregor to take over their clubs too and here are some of the best reactions from social media.
