‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor has some impressive boxing skills
Conor McGregor is only a few weeks away from his epic showdown against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264.
Revenge will be on his mind, when he takes on the Louisiana-based man on the 10th of July. The winner of the fight will get to challenge lightweight champion Charles Oliveira for the title shot.
Following his rematch loss against Poirier, McGregor quickly got back to work and has been sweating it out ever since.
The Irishman recently took to Twitter to show his incredible hand speed on the heavy bag, highlighting his boxing skills.
Despite McGregor going all-in on the bag, Twitterati weren’t particularly confident about ‘The Notorious’ chances against Poirier.
A lot of responses particularly mentioned McGregor’s inability to check the calf-kicks last time around, and also his sub-par movement.
Here is how Twitter reacted to McGregor’s post:
With less than 3 weeks left for the fight, UFC welterweight Stephen Wonderboy Thompson shared his views on the fight.
He claimed that McGregor would surely have a chance if he manages to bring back the elite movement he had during his fight against Jose Aldo at UFC 194, way back in 2015. Wonderboy also pointed out that McGregor needs to bring about a lot of changes before the fight.
Speaking in an interview with Submission Radio, Thompson said:
“I think the person who has to do more changing among the two is definitely Conor [McGregor]. Dustin Poirier has been fighting pretty much the same way for the longest times. He has great boxing, good timing, tough-as-nails.”
He then continued:
“He doesn’t have that movement anymore, that you normally saw. The one he had against Jose Aldo – it was the moment that won him the fight…I don’t know how hard it is or how long he has been doing the boxing stuff, but he’s gotta get out of that and get back to his movement. If he can do that, Conor can win.”
