Ciryl Gane was just too fast for number 5 ranked Alexander Volkov
The main event of UFC Vegas 30 saw number 3 ranked heavyweight Ciryl Gane square off against number 5 heavyweight Alexander Volkov. Gane emerged victorious via. unanimous decision scoring 50-45, 50-45, 49-46 in the three judges’ scorecard.
There was not much Volkov could do, as Gane’s speed was just too much for him. The only damage Volkov kept inflicting were from his leg kicks.
Gane began the fight quite slowly, and then began picking up pace from the third round.
With that win, Gane cemented his position as the number 3 ranked heavyweight, and it will do justice only if he takes on someone ranked above him. His MMA record now stands at 9 wins and 0 losses.
At the post-fight interview with Daniel Cormier, all Gane told was everyone knows who he wanted next.
Though Gane might be calling for a title shot which might be a bit farfetched, he sure is just a fight or two away from a showdown for the heavyweight gold.

During the course of the match, number 2 ranked heavyweight Derrick Lewis put out a tweet writing, “Karate sparring match @ufc,” indirectly stating that the fight was boring.
Now, Lewis is just one rank ahead of Gane. However, ‘The Black Beast’ is expected to face Francis Ngannou in a rematch, for the heavyweight title, and hence he wouldn’t entertain a fight with Gane.
Gane would patiently wait for his next fight, as he is closing in on heavyweight greatness.
