“Obama St-Pierre” – Georges St-Pierre’s new statue is a victim of a barrage of trolls

Georges St-Pierre was honored with a statue in his hometown recently

Arguably the greatest fighter in the history of the promotion, Georges St-Pierre, was untouchable during his heydays.

Had it not been for injury troubles and ulcerative colitis, GSP would have even been miles ahead of Khabib Nurmagomedov in the GOAT debate.

The Canadian had been a part of the UFC from 2004 until 2017, and never lost a single fight since a devastating loss to Matt Serra at UFC 69.

He finished his career with 12 wins on the trot in the welterweight division, a record recently broken by Kamaru Usman.

He made a one-fight comeback in 2017 challenging for Michael Bisping’s middleweight title, producing a stunning third round submission victory.

‘Rush’ was recently honoured with a statue in his hometown of Saint-Isidore. Dressed in a blue suit GSP posed alongside his sculpture striking his trademark stance pose.

However, the statue gained notoriety in no time due to the way it looked. The MMA community brutally trolled the figurine for its appearance, comparing it with the former President of the United States – Barack Obama.

“Ripped Obama” – Georges St-Pierre’s statue gets verbally punished

A majority, if not almost 90% of the reactions on Twitter were about the statue resembling Obama. Only a few fans congratulated ‘Rush’.

St-Pierre announced his retirement from the sport in February 2019. On the 9th of May, 2020 he was inducted into the modern wing of the UFC Hall of Fame.

Despite speculations of the Canadian making a comeback due to his ever-in shape physique, there is little no chance of GSP returning to the sport.
