Tanner Boser knocked out Ovince Saint Preux in the second round of their co-main event at UFC Vegas 30
Tanner Boser put on a clinic against the vastly experienced Ovince Saint Preux to assert his dominance in the heavyweight division.
The Canadian needed just two rounds to knockout OSP, after the veteran struggled to even land a single strike in the first round.
However, the match was marred with controversy after Boser appeared to grab the fence before knocking OSP out in the second round.
During the second round, OSP took Boser down as he tried to get back into the fight. However, just as OSP was tightening the hold on Boser, the Canadian for a moment looked like he grabbed the fence to get some leverage to break free.
It was spotted by almost everyone watching the fight, and the commentators, Daniel Cormier and Paul Felder were quick to point out the same. However, it didn’t really help Boser in any way.
No sooner did Boser grab the fence, than he got up and knocked OSP out.
Twitter branded Boser a cheat for his fence-grab. Here are a few reactions:
Ovince Saint Preux was not happy with the way he lost. Although he was being dominated in the fight, he has revealed that he would be requesting a no-contest.
In a statement to MMA Fighting, OSP said:
“I felt the ref put his hand on my back, which is only done to pause the action or call a finish. I slightly paused and then the tide turned. We will be protesting and requesting a no-contest.”
However, Boser denied grabbing the fence at the post-fight press conference. Fence-grab or not, Boser was simply superb against OSP, as he lived up to his nickname – Bulldozer.
