Conor McGregor held UFC titles in two divisions at the same time and claimed he would have defeated Tyron Woodley too
Former UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley hit out at Conor McGregor over a recent tweet.
The Notorious One was celebrating memories of when he became a two-division UFC champion. McGregor held the Lightweight and Featherweight titles at the same time, become the first UFC star to achieve that.
The Irishman’s stock has never dipped in the UFC despite losing his titles and then also after the big loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov.
However, McGregor was at the peak of his powers a few years back and believed he could have won a third division title.
The Irishman was watching Woodley vs Stephen Thompson 1 and claimed he should have gone for the belt.
Woodley was having none of it and went on to say it wouldn’t have happened at all:
shoulda woulda wouldn’t have #AllCap 🧢 https://t.co/DSZmnZODI1

Woodley’s slide down
It is difficult to say who would have won that fight. Woodley and McGregor were both in fine form but only one of them has been able to stay steady.
McGregor has even tried his hand out at boxing while Woodley hasn’t been the same since losing his title to Kamaru Usman.
He then lost to Gilbert Burns and most recently was taken to the cleaners by Colby Covington. Woodley is nowhere near the title scene now but McGregor is there or thereabout. He defeated Donald Cerrone and next faces Dustin Poirier in an epic rematch.
A win over Poirier could open the door for another title shot, especially with Khabib Nurmagomedov still in the UFC.
Dana White doesn’t believe that Khabib has retired and a Conor vs Khabib rematch could se the MMA world alight.
McGregor knows how to stay relevant, even if he isn’t fighting, but Woodley has lost some of his sheen after the recent losses.
