UFC 262 scheduled to take place at the Toyota Center has touched a $4 million gate
UFC 262 will see the second UFC event since the pandemic began, to feature a full house. The UFC had been hosting all their events at their facility, UFC Apex and a few in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi until UFC 261.
UFC 262 will be taking place at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. According to a report from Brett Okamoto of ESPN, UFC President Dana White has revealed that the event ‘has hit a $4 million gate based on ticket sales’.
The previous record set at Houston was $3.55 million. It was during UFC 247, which was headlined by Jon Jones vs Dominick Reyes. The co-main event featured Valentina Shevchenko against Katlyn Chookagian.
The event is just a few days away with a lot of promising fights lined up.
A classic title fight awaits at UFC 262
UFC 262 is headlined by Michael Chandler vs Charles Oliveira. The top-ranked lightweights will be fighting it out for the vacant lightweight belt after Khabib Nurmagomedov relinquished his title earlier this year.
Chandler is coming off a knockout win over Dan Hooker at UFC 257, which also happened to be the American’s UFC debut. Oliveira, on the other hand, is coming off a marauding win over Tony Ferguson at UFC 256.
The co-main event features veteran Tony Ferguson up against the tough-as-nails Beneil Dariush. Ferguson finds himself in a make-or-break situation, after failing to win his last two fights.
Other notable fights in the card include a women’s flyweight contest between Katlyn Chookagian and Viviane Araujo, and a men’s featherweight bout between Shane Burgos and Edson Barboza.
