UFC 263 injuries and suspensions: Brandon Moreno, Israel Adesanya and others learn their fate

There were a few nasty injuries witnessed at the recently concluded UFC 263

The UFC 263 just concluded. The event was held in front of a full house at the Gila River Arena in Glendale, Arizona.

The stacked main card featured two-title fights and one non-title fight scheduled for 5 rounds.

Israel Adesanya vs Marvin Vettori headlined the event. The fight went the full five rounds, as Adesanya won the fight via. unanimous decision.

In the co-main event, Brandon Moreno stopped Deiveson Figueiredo in three rounds to become the first Mexican-born flyweight champion.

The first five-round non-title fight saw Leon Edwards square off against ‘The Stockton Slugger’ Nate Diaz, winning via. unanimous decision.

The other two fights in the main card featured veteran UFC fighter Demian Maia going down to Belal Muhammad via. unanimous decision, and the other one being up and coming prospect Jamahal Hill losing to Paul Craig in the very first round due to a freak injury.

Brandon Moreno could potentially sit out for 6 months

Adesanya was handed only a 7 day suspension for his win over Marvin Vettori. In fact all Vettori did was try to take him down or submit him. Vettori, on the other hand, was handed a suspension of 30 days.

Moreno is the one who seems to be facing a fat suspension due to a suspected broken foot. If there is no clearance from an orthopaedic doctor for his right foot, he would be suspended for 180 days.

Leon Edwards was handed a suspension of 30 days for the tiring 5-rounder, while his opponent Nate Diaz was given a 45-day suspension due to severe bleeding and cuts.

Demian Maia and Belal Muhammad were suspended for 30 days, while Jamahal Hill also faces a possible 180-day injury suspension due to his dislocated elbow.
