UFC 293: Ex-NFL Star Furious Over Sean Strickland’s Controversial Rant In The Past

Sean Strickland‘s recent victory at UFC 293 has thrust him into the spotlight, but it has also brought past controversies to the forefront. Notably, Strickland’s controversial remarks about women’s rights in a previous interview have caught the attention of ex-NFL player Robert Griffin III.

In the interview that sparked the outrage, Strickland expressed misogynistic views, blaming women for societal issues and suggesting they should be confined to the kitchen. Griffin, a former NFL quarterback known for his tenure with the Washington Redskins, didn’t mince words in his response.

Griffin took to Twitter to condemn Strickland’s comments, stating, “Sean Strickland blaming women for the decline of our country. And saying they should be put back in the kitchen is Wrong and irresponsible. And every level-headed person watching this CAN’T WAIT FOR THIS GUY TO GET HIS A** KICKED. Women aren’t the problem Sean, YOU ARE.”

While Griffin has transitioned to a career as an analyst and broadcast personality following his NFL career, he didn’t hold back in criticizing Strickland’s controversial views.

Strickland’s recent middleweight title win has garnered significant attention, but it has also raised questions about the impact of such controversies on both Strickland’s and the UFC’s public image. While some may argue that his comments were made in jest or with sarcasm, the ensuing publicity could have consequences for Strickland and the UFC.

Teddy Atlas Unveils Insight into Israel Adesanya’s UFC 293 Loss to Sean Strickland

During the lead-up to UFC 293, Sean Strickland was no stranger to controversy, but it was Teddy Atlas who offered a unique perspective on the outcome. In the aftermath of Strickland’s stunning victory over Israel Adesanya, Atlas suggested that Strickland’s unorthodox approach might have been a calculated strategy.

Despite being a substantial +600 underdog, Strickland secured the UFC middleweight title with a commanding unanimous decision win over the two-time champion Adesanya. The challenger’s performance was marked by methodical efficiency rather than the outside-the-cage noise he had generated.

Atlas, a renowned boxing expert, acknowledged Adesanya’s exceptional striking abilities but noted that Strickland disrupted the rhythm with a simple yet effective approach. Employing a jab to set up his right hand, Strickland controlled the fight’s tempo while maintaining a solid defense by controlling the range.

Adesanya suffered his second middleweight loss and relinquished the UFC title for the second time in a year. UFC President Dana White called for an immediate rematch, baffled by Adesanya’s performance. Atlas, however, attributed Adesanya’s downfall to a failure in fundamentals, emphasizing the need to combine punches effectively when an opponent is on the defensive.

Teddy Atlas also highlighted Strickland’s transformation, from a “caveman” fighter to a more strategic and composed athlete, armed with a metaphorical “flashlight” rather than a “torch.” This transformation played a pivotal role in Strickland’s historic middleweight title upset, marking a new chapter in his career.
