Conor McGregor blurted some nasty words at the UFC 264 post-fight interview
Conor McGregor’s challenge against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264, came to a premature end after the Irishman broke his leg at the end of the first round.
His injury meant that Poirier would take the upper hand in the rivalry, going 2-1 up, after a TKO loss due to a doctor stoppage was awarded to McGregor.
At the post-fight interview with Joe Rogan, in the immediate aftermath, McGregor aimed nasty jibes at Poirier and his wife Jolie, already laying a platform for a quadrilogy fight.
The interview was subject to immense criticism, as McGregor was called out for being ‘shameful’.
Even Rogan was criticized for interviewing McGregor, since most felt that he shouldn’t have.
In a recent interview with the Schmo, 42-year old UFC bantamweight Urijah Faber gave his thoughts on McGregor’s post-fight interview, following UFC 264.
Faber, felt that the Irishman was still at the top of the pecking order, while claiming that the interview was “comical”.
Faber said:
“At the very top (of the pecking order)…What a comical and strange interview. Basically, guy’s got a severed leg in half and he’s making all sorts of strange comments and whatnot…It was pretty comical.”
Faber, who is quite close with McGregor, acknowledged the Irishman’s pull in the promotion. He still considered him a top fighter and also that anybody in the promotion would fight him.
Who wouldn’t? A fight with ‘The Notorious’ is enough to feed your grandchildren.
Faber said:
“He’s top of the pecking order still. Anbody in the sport would want to fight him and he’s a dangerous fight for anybody and a big paycheck for anybody.”
Faber, last competed in the year 2019. He took on Petr Yan at UFC 245 in December 2019. He suffered a KO loss and hasn’t made an appearance ever since.
