Ashlee Evans-Smith tested positive for a steroid and will be out of action till 2023
UFC star Ashlee Evans-Smith was suspended by the USADA after she tested positive for an “anabolic androgenic steroid of exogenous origin”.
The USADA report on UFC.com confirmed that she tested positive after urine samples were collected on 3 January and 27 January, 2022.
The report added that Evans-Smith declared dehydroepiandrosterone during both tests. She even provided evidence and was part of the investigation. However, the UFC star claims that a physician incorrectly “prescribed” dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) to her.
The report added that due to her cooperation in the investigation she would receive a shorter period of ineligibility.
Evans-Smith’s ban retrospectively starts from 3 January, 2022 and the UFC star will be able to return to action on 3 March, 2023.
This isn’t the first time Evans-Smith has been suspended. She was handed a nine-month suspension after UFC 181 by the Nevada Athletic Commission after she failed a drug test.
The 34-year-old, nicknamed Rebel Girl, is currently 6-5 in her MMA career. She came into the UFC on a 3-0 record but has lost her last two outings.
Evans-Smith hasn’t fought since November 2020, and this ban will extend that till 2023. However, she seems to be doing quite well on other fronts.
The UFC star makes several appearances on wrestling shows, and also has her own podcast.
She also has her own podcast and merchandise store with some sections of it being 18+ and adult-themed in nature.
