Daniel Ricciardo reveals his pick for the Volkanovski vs Ortega UFC 266 fight
Alex Volkanovski will face Brian Ortega at UFC 266 this weekend. The current UFC Featherweight Champion has received the support of fellow Australian countryman and Formula One driver Daniel Ricciardo.
“Volk it’s time mate, We’ve been hanging out for this one. I know you can’t wait to get in there, So looking forward to seeing you do your thing. Relentless pressure, foot on the gas from start to finish. It’s gonna be a good one, we’ve got your mate mate!”
Ricciardo is backing Volkanovski for his upcoming title match. The Champion responded to the message by replying “Shoey!” on the tweet. A reference to Ricciardo celebration after he won the Italian GP.
Volkanovski faces a tough challenge in the form of Brian Ortega who seems to have come back stronger after his loss to Max Holloway. Ortega has a chance to grab the Featherweight title again. But will he be able to conquer The Great Volkanovski?
Ricciardo had his first win since 2018 after leaving RedBull in the 2021 Italian GP. The Australian upset the odds with his win. Though there can be an argument that his win was facilitated by Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen being forced out of the race.
Ricciardo will look to give another amazing performance this weekend at Sochi for the Russian GP, If the rain does not affects the race weekend. The Sochi Autodrom was recently flooded and the fans can wish that track gets cleared and rain does not play a factor come race day.
