Alexander Hernandez got into the mood for his next fight with a dip in freezing waters
Alexander ‘The Great’ Hernandez will be in action next on this week’s UFC Fight Night event.
The 28-year-old faces Chris Gruetzemacher on Saturday and it should be a great bout. Gruetzemacher is 14-3 in his MMA career and is coming off a win over Joe Lauzon at UFC 223.
Hernandez, for his part, lost his last fight against Drew Dober at UFC Fight Night: Smith vs Teixeira. That loss hasn’t taken any confidence away from the 28-year-old and he seems to be ready for any challenge.
He recently posted a video of dipping into a water body when it was freezing cold. Hernandez claimed this was the best way to prepare for the first snow day in Englewood, Colorado and he seemed to be enjoying it a lot.
UFC stars have to be mentally strong and this was further proof as to how much they can take mentally. Dipping into lake or pond during such weather takes some incredible steel and that is something Hernandez will need when he takes on his next rival.
A big fight for both stars
Hernandez needs the win to get out of his loss against Dober and get going again. He has never lost two consecutive fights in his career and is 3-2 in his UFC career. Hernandez defeated Beneil Dariush in his UFC debut but has been 50-50 since then.
Gruetzemacher, for his part, won his clash at the Ultimate Fighter in 2015 but then lost his next two fights against Chas Skelly and Davi Ramos.
However, he came back in spectacular style against Lauzon and also won the Performance of the Night at UFC 223.
A win for either star would help them push up the rankings, and this could be an amazing fight.
