Dominick Cruz will face Henry Cejudo for the UFC Bantamweight title at UFC 249
One of the shock matches up at UFC 249 sees Dominic Cruz challenge Henry Cejudo for the Bantamweight title.
The problem lies with the fact that Cruz hasn’t fought in nearly three years. Cruz is a former UFC Bantamweight champion in his own right, but coming to the Octagon after such a long gap could be an issue, especially with a title fight.
There has been a lot said about this match, especially as Cejudo was to face Jose Aldo. However, the coronavirus pandemic has made some fights difficult to set up.
Aljamain Sterling is ranked #2 in the Bantamweight division and is yet to face Cejudo for a title shot. The American decided to take a shot at Cruz with a clipping from NBA legend Isaiah Thomas.
Hahah 😂 pretty accurate I must say! #UFC249! https://t.co/llAOB7TwXI

The original video was tweeted by a fan but Sterling retweeted that. He agreed with the face that Cruz somehow got the title and even he didn’t know how it happened.
Sterling to challenge for the belt in the future?
Cruz might be coming back after three years but he has had a similar break in the past. He won the title after coming back from a long break, and he won the Bantamweight title then.
It will be interesting to see if Cruz can do the same against Cejudo. But the Bantamweight champion is regarded as one of the best in the UFC presently.
Sterling, for his part, is 18 and three in his MMA career. He last fought at UFC 238 and is set to face Cory Sandhagen on 16 May.
This is one of the three UFC events that Dana White has planned, with three taking place in the span of a week.
