Boxing sensation Claressa Shields is set to make her MMA debut in 2021 and is training at a top gym
The MMA world has a new star to contend with as Claressa Shields is building up for her debut.
The 25-year-old American is one of the greatest boxers in living memory and has already created a few records.
She is a two-time Olympic gold medallist in the Middleweight division and is yet to lose a professional fight.
Shields also is one of eight boxers in history to have held all four major world boxing titles at the same time.
However, T-Rex, as she is called, is ready for her next step. She last fought Ivana Habazin but signed for PFL to take part in some fights soon.
She is stated to fight in 2021 and is training in a top MMA gym. The boxing great posted a video of her training at Jackson-Wink and that is a smart move from her side:
The Jackson-Wink MMA gym is considered as one of the best in the world. Some of the top names that have honed their skills there include Jon Jones, BJ Penn, Rashad Evans, Andrei Arlovski, Holly Holm, Georges St-Pierre and Frank Mir.
All of these stars have been former champions in the UFC and it will be interesting to keep an eye on Shields’ development.
MMA is a completely different sport when compared to boxing and Shields cannot only rely on her boxing. She isn’t the first boxer to make the switch to MMA but many kick-boxers have turned out to be excellent in the sport.
There is a lot of hype surrounding Shields but training at Jackson-Wink is one of the best decisions she has taken.
The 25-year-old seems to be the next big thing in MMA and it will be interesting to see how she does in her first fight.
