Henry Cejudo defeated Dominick Cruz at UFC 249 with a hint of controversy
UFC Bantamweight Champion Henry Cejudo defended his title against Dominick Cruz at UFC 249.
Cejudo is considered as one of the greatest ever in the world, and it seemed that he had finally met his match against Cruz.
The champion targetted Cruz’s legs early on but got a nasty gash on his head. That happened due to an accidental clash on heads in the second round. The referee asked for the doctor to attend to Cejudo, and the former Olympian came back fighting.
He connected with a knee and then pounced on a downed Cruz. Cejudo kept putting in the punches and the referee stopped the fight.
However, there was some controversy with the finish. Cruz was unhappy with the decision and was speaking to the referee why this was stopped.
The problem with the decision was that Cruz was getting up when the referee made the call. Commentators Daniel Cormier and Joe Rogan also spoke about the controversial end to the fight, but another major call was made after the clash.
Wow!

Cejudo retires
The Bantamweight champion shocked the world by announcing his retirement during the post-fight session in the Octagon.
That caught Dana White and Rogan unawares, and it will be interesting to see what happens next with the belt.
Cruz is a former Bantamweight champion and even Khabib Nurmagomedov claimed the former champ is the best in his division.
Cruz also spoke about the decision and was not happy at all. However, he did suggest that going down to Cejudo’s knee should not have happened in the first place.
Cejudo’s retirement will grab all the headlines from UFC 249 but these are interesting times for the Bantamweight division.
