Dustin Poirier vs Dan Hooker saw some heavy blows being thrown
UFC Las Vegas 4 saw an incredible main event between Dustin Poirier and Dan Hooker.
Some had predicted that this could be a Fight of the Year contender, and it certainly had many huge hits.
Hooker won the first two rounds but it was Poirier who dug in deep and won the next three. The Kiwi star also looked gassed towards the end, and Poirier took advantage of that.
The Diamond dominated the final round and won. However, right after the fifth round, Poirier called out Hooker and even wanted to continue fighting into the next round.
He went to Hooker, who was sitting on the floor. Hooker had to get up quickly to show that he was still ready for another round. The pair even clashed a bit but cooler heads prevailed.
This was possibly some mind games from Poirier’s side to show how fresh he was, despite going five rounds in a tough fight.
Hooker, for his part, did perform well. However, this just showed that the Kiwi star has some way to go before being considered ready for a title bout.
"How about that Dan?"

Poirier for a title fight?
While Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Justin Gaethje will take place for the undisputed UFC Lightweight title, there is a question on who will the champion face next.
Poirier is in the running after this win, and his last loss was at the hands of Khabib. Conor McGregor isn’t in the scene at the moment while Hooker expected to be in the discussion if he got the win.
Poirier also has a win over Gaethje a couple of years ago, and that would be a great title fight. Of course, Khabib vs Poirier 2 would be incredible too.
The Diamond claimed he could fight later this year or next year too but wanted to go to his family now.
