Maurice Greene defeated Gian Villante at UFC Las Vegas 4
UFC Fight Night Poirier vs Hooker saw one heavyweight clash on the main card, Maurice Greene vs Gian Villante.
Greene picked up the win thanks to a different arm-triangle choke, and he was extremely emotional at the end of the clash.
The heavyweight was speaking during his interview and highlighted why the win was important. The 33-year-old UFC star claimed that this would help his family move.
Greene needed to regain his composure during the post-fight interviews, and the win bonus would have helped him too.
The UFC has had issues with pay for their top fighters in recent weeks. Jon Jones, Henry Cejudo and Jorge Masvidal have all spoken out regarding this. However, Greene certainly got some good news to share after this win.
It didn’t take long for Greene to respond to Tanner Boser asking him for another fight soon. Boser was also on the same event and defeated Philipe Lens on the prelim card.
Boser wants to face Greene at Fight Island, and the 33-year-old was more than ready to face the heavyweight.
Greene also was impressive during the fight. It seemed like his rival had decked him hard during the final round of the clash.
Greene was hit hard several times and he was on his back. However, the 33-year-old somehow pulled off a choke which got many talking.
This was Greene’s ninth win in the UFC and he broke a two-fight losing streak. The American is now 9-4 in his MMA career, and it will be interesting to see if the UFC does feature him at Fight Island.
There are several fights planned for that location and they could do with two heavy-hitters going at each other.
