Gilbert Burns is expected to face Kamaru Usman for the UFC Welterweight title and is training hard for the same
Brazilian MMA star Gilbert Burns is working out extremely hard as he challenges Kamaru Usman for the Welterweight title.
The 34-year-old made it big by shifting to the Welterweight division and in a matter of a few fights, he has become the No.1 contender for the title.
Burns defeated Tyron Woodley in his last fight and was supposed to face Usman at Fight Island at UFC 251. However, the Brazilian tested positive for Covid-19 and was replaced by Jorge Masvidal.
Gamebred couldn’t defeat Usman and UFC fans will finally get to see Usman vs Burns soon. While the UFC hasn’t confirmed when the fight will take place, it is just a matter of time before the fight is announced.
Burns, for his part, isn’t taking any chances against the Nigerian Nightmare. The 34-year-old shared a couple of training videos where he is seen pumping a lot of weights:
Burns and Usman are close and this should be an incredible fight. Ali Abdelaziz is the manager for both fights and recently told the Schmo that it was Usman who wanted Burns to be signed up.
Usman has been excellent ever since he picked up the belt and it should be a brilliant fight between two close friends.
Burns has turned his career around and this is his chance to pick up UFC gold for the first time. The Brazilian is on a six-fight win streak while Usman hasn’t lost a fight in his last 16 outings.
Usman won the title from Woodley at UFC 235 and has picked up impressive wins over Masvidal and Colby Covington since.
