Norma Dumont was wearing Reebok attire and Jason Herzog stepped in to save her from a wardrobe malfunction at the latest UFC event
The job of a referee isn’t just to call a fight or keep an eye out for a submission, they also have to ensure the fighters are safe from spills in the octagon and step in when needed.
We have seen referees come to save stars when they have been hit in the groin area or an eye poke has occurred, but Jason Herzog had extra work to do in the latest UFC event.
Herzog is one of the top referees in the MMA world and was officiating a fight between Norma Dumont and Ashlee Evans-Smith.
However, the ref had to step in and save the UFC star, Dumont, from a major wardrobe malfunction during the fight.
The Brazilian star was on top of Evans-Smith and was trying to lock in a hold. Evans-Smith tried to push her opponent and the top of Dumont was slowly moving higher than needed.
Dumont could have been left embarrassed as her Reebok attire could have exposed her body parts. However, Herzog moved in quickly to place the attire back in place as the fight continued.
This was quick thinking from Herzog as many such wardrobe malfunctions have happened in the UFC.
Dumont didn’t have to worry about this and continued on to pick up the win.
Dumont was coming into the fight with a record of four wins and one loss. That loss came in her last fight which was against Megan Anderson.
However, the Brazilian got back to winning ways and defeated her rival via a unanimous decision. Dumont moved up to 5-1 in her career and it will be interesting to see what is next for her.
This was her first win in the UFC and should give her more confidence for her next fights.
