Julia Avila defeated Gina Mazany at UFC Las Vegas 2
Julia Avila, the UFC’s Raging Panda, picked up an impressive win over Gina Mazany at UFC Las Vegas 2.
The 32-year-old was on a three-fight win streak coming into the event, and her clash against Mazany lasted all but 22 seconds.
This was a preliminary card fight, but most of these fights lasted less than a minute. Four fights were part of this card and Avila’s win was the third one which lasted less than a minute.
The Raging Panda was in no mood to take things easy as she let fly with a flurry of punches against her opponent.
Mazany didn’t have any answers to her opponent’s shots, and the referee stopped the fight via TKO.
Avila made it two straight wins in her UFC career and is unbeaten after joining the promotion too. The 32-year-old now holds a career record of eight wins and one loss and it will be interesting to see what is next for her.
The three quick first-round finishes on this card made history for the UFC. This was the first time that each of the initial three matches of a card last less than a minute.
Some timing outlets suggested that the total length of all these fights were just 113 seconds. Avila and a few other stars didn’t waste time at all as Tyson Name and Christian Aguilera also picked up quick wins.
The main event saw Jessica Eye surprisingly lose out to Cynthia Calvillo. Eye had missed weight ahead of this clash and the fight went the distance.
However, the judges unanimously decided that Calvillo was the winner on the night. Two other fights on the main card also ended in the first round itself with Marvin Vettori and Mariya Agapova picking up wins.
