Kelvin Gastelum will be in action against Jack Hermansson at UFC Fight Night 172
Kelvin Gastelum certainly is turning up the heat as he prepares for UFC Fight Night 172.
The Welterweight star will face Jack Hermansson at the event on 18 July. This would be the second-last fight of the card and Gastelum is making good use of the location.
All these events are taking place at UFC Fight Island which is located in Abu Dhabi. While the fights are taking place indoors in the Flash Forum, there is an Octagon located right by the beach.
Temperatures in Abu Dhabi touch 41 degrees Celsius during these months while the low is around 32.
However, that isn’t affecting Gastelum as he shared photos and a video of him training in the beach Octagon.

Gastelum also added that he was training at 6 AM to get into shape for the fight:

A comfortable day for Gastelum
The 28-year-old noted the temperature outside but wasn’t too worried about the heat. The American suggested that he would spend 10-12 hours working in the construction business in Yuma, Arizona.
It’s well over 100°F / 37°C outside. Just another day when you grew up doin 10-12 hr days of construction and yard work in Yuma, AZ. 🙃 #UFCFightIsland

It will be interesting to see how the 28-year-old does against Hermansson. Gastelum has lost his last two clashes but those have been against Darren Till and Israel Adesanya.
He faced Adesanya for the Middleweight title at UFC 236 but couldn’t get the better of the champion.
The 28-year-old is currently 15-5-1 in his MMA career, and a win on Fight Island could bring him back in the discussion for a title shot.
Training in the heat is a boss mood, and hopefully, all of this does help him in getting the better of his rival at the weekend.
