Umar Nurmagomedov choked out Sergey Morozov in his UFC debut and his cousin Khabib, was quick to celebrate
The second event of the UFC 2021 season saw Umar Nurmagomedov pick up an impressive win over Sergey Morozov and his cousin, Khabib was quick to celebrate.
The pair were to meet at UFC 254 but Umar had to pull out due to an illness. Nevertheless, Umar was excellent and choked out his rival in the second round.
This was reminiscent to something that Khabib does, and the UFC Lightweight champion was quick to congratulate his cousin.
Khabib put on the traditional Dagestani papakha hat, something he has sported throughout his career in the UFC too.
This was also Umar’s 13th win in a row and he is yet to taste defeat in his professional MMA career.
While Khabib and Umar had something big to celebrate, there was a classy touch from Khabib as well.
Respect for the opponent
Khabib was quick to walkover to his cousin’s rival and first commiserated with the coaches. He also shook the hand of Morozov and seemed to wish him the best for the future as well.
Khabib is a class act in the UFC and even if he wasn’t fighting, he is there to make the headlines. He recently said that a return to the UFC depended on how things went at UFC 257.
Dana White confirmed that someone had to impress Khabib and it will be interesting to see how things go for Conor McGregor, Dustin Poirier and co.
Umar, for his part, looked incredible and it will be interesting to see who his next opponent is. This was a great start to his UFC career and something special could be coming from his end too.
