Paul Felder had a lot of compliments for Rafael dos Anjos but also showed off several facial injury marks too
Paul Felder came short in his quest to defeat Rafael dos Anjos but he earned the respect of the UFC world.
Felder accepted the short-notice fight with five days to the event after Islam Makhachev pulled out. The American basically saved the last UFC event as no one else might have taken on Dos Anjos.
The Brazilian is a former UFC Lightweight Champion and his training and conditioning came to the fore. He easily defeated Felder in a five-round bash but the American also got some good hits at Dos Anjos.
Nevertheless, Dos Anjos came out on top while Felder was handed a few cuts and bruises on his face. During the fight too, Felder’s face was crimson after some tough shots but he kept on battling.
The 36-year-old showed off some of the injuries he was carrying after the fight but didn’t lose his sense of humour in all this:
Felder got some stitches and cuts on his face but those don’t seem to be too serious. He should be back in action soon and Felder also cut short all talk of him retiring.
The 36-year-old is 17-6 in his MMA career and it will be interesting to see who he could fight next. Felder also has done a great job as a UFC commentator and that might be his next outing for the promotion.
Dos Anjos, for his part, also thanked Felder for taking up the clash. The Brazilian seems to be in decent shape now and even accepted a call out from Conor McGregor.
The pair were to meet a few years back but the fight got cancelled. That could be a great fight for both but McGregor first faces Dustin Poirier in a huge rematch.
