Robert Whittaker was in fine form as he defeated Darren Till at UFC Fight Island
Darren Till might be one of the most enjoyable fighters to watch in the UFC and Robert Whittaker decided to do copy the English star after their fight.
Whittaker made his return to the UFC after losing his Middleweight title to Israel Adesanya around 10 months back.
The former champion had spoken about finding his spark again and that made his return easier. However, the clash was a bit of a slow-burner at the start with both fighters playing a cautious game.
The fight opened up a bit later once Whittaker seemed to have the advantage after three rounds and then Till tried to take over.
He tried a few of his trademark body feints and also avoided some of Whittaker’s kicks. Till even celebrated with both his hands up at one point after avoiding another strike from Whittaker.
The two fighters had a lot of respect for each other and once the results were confirmed, Whittaker tried his hand at Till’s feints.
It was a hilarious attempt by the former champion but this was a huge win for his career:
The pair were able to crack a joke or two after the clash, but bigger things might be ahead for Whittaker.
Whittaker hasn’t received a rematch for the title after Adesanya defeated him. However, Adesanya will be facing Paulo Costa next and that is a fight that has been on the burner for a while.
Whittaker could be in line to fight whoever comes out on top in that clash. The former champion might have to go through another Middleweight for a title shot, and it will be interesting to see what happens next in the division.
Costa vs Adesanya should be one of the fights of the year but there will be many keeping a close watch on who emerges as the champion.
