Sam Alvey is one of the most hilarious MMA stars in the world and there was a funny moment with a cup too

Sam Alvey is coming off a crazy draw against Da Un Jung in his last fight at UFC 254. The American was coming off four straight losses and had earlier claimed he was just happy that the UFC gave him a fight.

Alvey is also known for his hilarious videos on social media, and he was at it again after this fight. He might have taken a few hits along the way and got some new gear to show off. It wasn’t new gloves or shorts but a cup to protect the private region.

Alvey thanked the creators for this piece of equipment but his kid didn’t know what it was. In a hilarious video, one of Alvey’s children though this was a knee guard and it actually fit him perfectly.

Alvey certainly enjoyed his child getting confused, but the cup is important in keeping stars safe.

One set have to wear cups

Big John McCarthy had spoken earlier that male stars have to wear cups when fighting inside the Octagon.

However, that isn’t the case for women and it is not mandatory for them to wear such equipment. We have seen many stars get kicked in the region and fights get called off. Most of these hits are unintentional and it makes sense for men to wear cups before they go off to fight.

That is the only protection they get inside the Octagon, apart from the mouthpiece that they get. Some of these UFC cups are incredibly durable and have taken hits from bats and bricks too.

That is necessary to ensure they don’t break as some of the kicks from UFC stars are ferocious and could do some major damage.
