Sean O’Malley spoke about the Phoenix Suns before playing some basketball in the Octagon against Kris Moutinho at UFC 264
Sean O’Malley is one of the kings of the viral knockout in the UFC, however, the Arizona-born star also likes to put on a show.
The Bantamweight has won several fights via viral KOs but he likes to show off as well. This was more than present when he took on Kris Moutinho at UFC 264.
Moutinho was a short-notice replacement and O’Malley was confident of getting the win early on, even before the fight took place.
O’Malley also brought up the Phoenix Suns in a tweet just hours before his UFC 264 fight. He claimed that his next KO, against Moutinho, was for the Suns.
The Suns are 2-0 in the NBA Finals and look good to win the title for the first time.
However, O’Malley decided to have some fun early on in the fight.
Sean O’Malley shooting for the stars
O’Malley’s confidence was oozing early on and he decided to mock Moutinho by playing some basketball during the fight.
This was a way to distract Moutinho as O’Malley lit him up in the first round. Moutinho even survived a KO attempt late in the first round but the UFC debutant did a pretty solid job of surviving most of what O’Malley threw at him.
O’Malley, for his part, is a showman and that is exactly what he was trying to do at UFC 264.
Moutinho performed well but the referee stopped the fight late in the third round, possibly due to the damage he suffered.
Many fans didn’t agree with this and booed Herb Dean and Moutinho came out as the star in all this.
