Tony Ferguson was the victim of a gruesome armbar at UFC 256 but his arm seems to be fine
Former interim UFC Lightweight Champion, Tony Ferguson, was back in training and had no damage on his left arm after UFC 256.
Ferguson last fought at UFC 256 where he was dismantled by Charles Oliveira. El Cucuy came into this fight with a lot of confidence but was demolished by the Brazilian in three rounds.
There was one horrible moment where Oliveira had Ferguson trapped in an armbar. He even trapped the left arm under his body and it was just a matter of time before Ferguson’s arm would snap.
However, El Cucuy didn’t tap and his arm didn’t break either. Astonishingly, Ferguson was ready for the next round but he couldn’t make this repreive count.
Ferguson also posted an update on his arm a day later and claimed nothing was wrong with it. El Cucuy also brought up his mental strength and toughness that ensure he wouldn’t tap against Oliveira.
Ferguson is one of the toughest UFC stars on the planet and also posted another video where he was back in training.
There didn’t seem to be any problems with the arm that was in the armbar, and the American is ready for more it seems.
A win for Ferguson against Oliveira would have firmly put him back in the title hunt. Khabib Nurmagomedov might have retired but Dana White hasn’t stripped the Russian of the Lightweight title yet.
White is confident that Khabib will return and it will be interesting to see if his 30th fight is another defence of the title.
Ferguson, for his part, is further down the rankings and needs a few wins to even get back into title contention.
All the other top stars in the Lightweight division have a scarp in 2021 while Oliveira is leading the race for a crack at Khabib’s gold.
