Tony Ferguson seems to willing to fight Conor McGregor after cancelled UFC 249 event
UFC star Tony Ferguson is one of the most unorthodox stars in the industry, and he seems to have called out Conor McGregor now.
The American was set to face Khabib Nurmagomedov for the Lightweight title at UFC 249. However, that match was changed later as Khabib was stuck in Russia.
Justin Gaethje replaced Khabib at short notice. However, Ferguson was still ready for the bout.
However, Disney and ESPN decided to cancel UFC 249. Dana White wanted the fight to go on, and it seems Ferguson has a new target.
McGregor returned to winning ways by beating Donald Cerrone at UFC 246. The Irishman has spoken of facing the winner of Ferguson vs Khabib, but it seems he is a target for the American.
Ferguson shared a cartoon of the pair going at it in the Octagon and Ferguson came out on top in the clash.
The cartoon highlighted Ferguson’s unique offence too, and that caught McGregor unaware.
Despite both stars being in the UFC for years, the pair have never met in the Octagon.
McGregor has fought in different weight classes, but he has never taken on Ferguson in the UFC.
This would be an incredible clash if it ever takes place, and it seems that Ferguson isn’t afraid to have a shot at McGregor.
However, his eyes will be on Khabib and winning the UFC Lightweight title. Ferguson deserves some credit from not backing out of UFC 249 despite the change in opposition.
The American has been excellent over the years and is on a 12-fight winning streak. However, all UFC events have been cancelled for now.
