Chael Sonnen recalled an incident where he almost got into a brawl with Tito Ortiz

The bad blood between Chael Sonnen and Tito Ortiz hasn’t died down, despite both stars retiring from the Octagon.

Sonnen and Ortiz have met just once in the past, but it seems they are more than willing to fight each other when given the chance.

Sonnen was recalling an incredible incident where he almost fought Ortiz:

“I saw Tito about three months ago in the streets of Portland. I had just come home from a trip I was at a Bellator. And I walk outside and my buddy, Joe, is gonna pick me up.

Sonnen added that he was on the phone when Ortiz came up to him:

“I hear somebody say ‘There’s the p****’.”

Sonnen revealed that he gets called stuff like this by fans who want a reaction out of him. However, most of the time they are just joking and want a picture with the former UFC star.

“Tito says ‘There’s the p****’, so I look up from my phone with a smile on my face, and wouldn’t you know, the coward is with somebody else.”

The former UFC star claimed that Ortiz would only ever address him like this when he was with someone or if Sonnen was far away from the other UFC star.

“So this scumbag, what a scumbag move, so I look up and I simply say ‘Hey Tito, what are you doing in Portland?”

Sonnen claimed that Ortiz fumbled in his response and this wasn’t meant as a trick question to him either.

A brawl is avoided

The former UFC star went on to say that his friend picked him up right after and he narrated the incident to him too.

His friend didn’t hesitate and was turning the car around, but Sonnen stopped the issue from escalating.

Sonnen was also asked if he wanted one more fight to make things special, and the former UFC star added that he didn’t need a reason to fight Ortiz.

Ortiz and Sonnen fought at Bellator 170 and it was Sonnen that lost the match. Ortiz, for his part, spent some time with TNA and other Wrestling promotions, and it will be interesting to see if this fight against Sonnen takes place anytime soon.
