Jan Blachowicz wants respect after defeating Israel Adesanya at UFC 259
The main event of UFC 259 saw Israel Adesanya attempt to become a double-champion by taking on Jan Blachowicz.
Everyone was bringing up Adesanya and how he was a threat to the Light Heavyweight champion. Adesanya was undefeated in his MMA career and almost everyone believed that the Last Stylebender would be able to defeat Blachowicz.
However, the Pole put on quite a performance as he won a close and technical fight. There could be no doubts about the result and there was a ton of respect between the two fights.
Dana White was speaking to the reporters after the fight and was asked about Blachowicz. The UFC president praised Blachowicz and believed he would be taking on all comers in his division:
“Jan is the man. He is the 205 pound champ and now he starts taking on all comers in that weight division.”
However, there was more to come from Blachowicz. White continued by bringing up what the Pole told him and it seemed that he was upset at the lack of respect he was getting from a few corners.
“Listen, this guy is a tough guy, you have seen all the guys that Izzy’s fought and what he has done.
“Jan is a tough guy. When I got into the Octagon and put the belt on him tonight, he turned around, looked at me and said ‘You don’t believe in me.’
“I said ‘What the f***? How did I not believe in you?’
“These guys are crazy, man.”
White added that he was stunned at Blachowicz’s comments but this has been going on for a while. Adesanya’s win would have opened the doors for a fight against Jon Jones but all of that is down the drain now.
Nevertheless, Blachowicz put on a great show and White confirmed that he should face Glover Teixeira next.
Polish power was on show at UFC 259 and even Blachowicz posted a simple update right after the fight.
The Pole turned his career around as he was 2-4 in his initial UFC days. He is 9-1 since and he would have shut up a lot of doubters over his place in the UFC.
