What’s next for Cody Garbrandt after his loss against Rob Font?

Cody Garbrandt ended up losing to Rob Font via. unanimous decision in the main event of the recently concluded UFC Fight Night

Former bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt’s quest to reclaim the bantamweight belt was left in tatters after his loss against Rob Font at UFC Vegas 27.

Garbrandt was coming into the fight, ranked number 4, off a victory against Raphael Assuncao at UFC 250. He produced a highlight-reel knockout for the ages against Assuncao.

Coming into the fight against Font, brimming with confidence, ‘No Love’ struggled due to Font’s superior reach advantage. Despite not backing down until the final minute, Garbrandt wasn’t able to land that killer strike or blow.

He ended up losing the fight via. unanimous decision. Garbrandt now has just one win in his last four fights.

After winning the title against Dominick Cruz at UFC 207, his career has fallen apart completely.

Who will Cody Garbrandt fight next

Had Garbrandt been finished against Font his confidence would have been blown to smithereens, but somehow he fought on and stood the ground.

Now facing someone in the top 3 including Font again, will be an almost impossible task for Garbrandt, since there is nothing separating them; quite similar to the lightweight top 5.

Hence, Garbrandt will have to look at other options like Dominick Cruz, who has just begun finding his fighting groove. However, he is ranked significantly away from Garbrandt as of now.

Other options for Garbrandt include the rising Merab Dvalishvili, who has been on an impressive 6-fight win streak. Jose Aldo would be a good choice as well.

Hope Garbrandt gets back on track soon!
