Phillipe Nover is a former UFC star who is now a cardiac nurse fighting in New York City against Covid-19
UFC president Dana White took some time out of his schedule to send a message to former MMA fighter Phillipe Nover.
Nover retired from the UFC just over two years back and is now a cardiac nurse working in New York City.
The 36-year-old has been fighting against the onslaught of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic in the city too.
White caught hold of that information and shared a great message to the former UFC star. The message was sent through TMZ Sports, and this is what White had to say:
“Hearing all the incredible things that you’re doing on the frontlines of New York City. You know, you’re awesome, kid.
“I have so much respect for, not just you, but for everybody who is part of the first responders and the medical staff that are taking care of everybody and putting yourself in harm’s way to help others.”
White also alluded to Nover’s toughness and recalled his time on The Ultimate Fighter.
“You were a stud on TUF and apparently you’re still kicking ***, my friend, congratulations! Thank you so much for all you’re doing for everybody, see you soon!”
Nover was a little surprised at the message but did thank White. He also said that his fight is in the hospital now and isn’t thinking of a return to the Octagon.
It is great that there are people like him doing some really incredible things, and here is more about the 36-year-old.
Who is Phillipe Nover?
The 36-year-old was a registered nurse as he joined the ranks for The Ultimate Fighter: Team Nogueira vs. Team Mir.
He had to cut weight to join the show and White also used to call him Fainting Phillipe since the UFC star had fainted when the coaches were being announced.

The American started his MMA career with Ring of Combat and a couple of other promotions. He was 5-0-1 when he got a chance in the UFC.
However, Nover left the promotion with a 0-3 record. He then spent time at Bellator and Ring of Combat before getting four more fights in the UFC.
He finished his second stint in the UFC at 1-3 and had an overall record of 11-8-1. He retired from all forms of MMA in 2017 and is currently a nurse at the NYU Langone Hospital—Brooklyn. He is one of the emergency response frontliners in the city of New York during the coronavirus pandemic.
Nover might not have had a great UFC career, but what he is doing now is simply incredible given the scenario all across the world.
