Anthony ‘Rumble’ Johnson was arrested by the New Canaan Police Department recently

Just a couple of days ago Johnson made a successful return to mixed martial arts. The former UFC star took on Jose Augusto at Bellator 258, and won the bout via. his trademark one-punch knockout.

Hardly had that winning feeling died down when ‘Rumble’ was arrested.

He was arrested by the New Canaan police department due to suspected third-degree identity theft for purchasing an air ticket with an unauthorized credit card, reported way back in November 2019.

Johnson was out on bail and has a court hearing scheduled on the 8th of June this year.

The New Canaan police department issued a statement claiming that a complaint was received from ‘the victim’ on the 9th of November 2019, that their card was used by a third-party without permission.

The purchase was a round-air trip from Fort Lauderdale to Newark, the statement further revealed, before concluding that the perpetrator was Johnson.

Anthony Johnson recovered from a first-round knockdown to beat Jose Augusto

Augusto almost played spoilsport to ‘Rumble’s’ MMA return. He had Johnson rocked in the first round, almost knocking him out for the very first time in his career.

However, Johnson was up for it, as he brought his experience to the fore, recovering quickly and delivering the knockout blow in the next round.

It is worthy mentioning that all of Johnson’s losses have come via. submission, barring a controversial eye poke loss to Kevin Burns, way back in 2008.

With that victory, Johsnon advanced to the semi-finals of the Bellator Light Heavyweight World Grand Prix. He will now be taking on Vadim Nemkov who is the defending light-heavyweight champion.
