Kamaru Usman threw down a challenge to Jorge Masvidal ahead of their title bout
UFC Welterweight champion Kamaru Usman knows he has a tough job of his hands against Jorge Masvidal.
The champion is set to face Masvidal and defend his title after Gamebred has been on a rise over the past few months.
Usman and Masvidal have also been involved in a bitter war of words. They almost came to blows too at a conference ahead of the Super Bowl and Gamebred has called Usman out for being a faker.
However, the Welterweight champion knows it will be difficult:
“I know it’s going to be a hard fight. I know it’s going to be tough.”
Usman was the subject of a mini-documentary by The Anatomy of a Fighter, and be claimed that Masvidal is reckless and has given up in the past too:
“I’m expecting a war, He’s talking reckless, I am going to punish him, gonna make him pay.
“You ain’t never seen me punished. You never seen me quit. I’ve seen him quit, so you’ve never seen that out of me.”
Usman doing his bit in the UFC
The Nigerian-American star has been incredible since coming into the UFC. The 32-year-old is unbeaten in his UFC career and won the title from Tyron Woodley at UFC 235.
He also beat Colby Covington at UFC 245 but Masvidal will be a tough test for the champion.
Usman also spoke further in the video as he isn’t concerned about fame in the UFC. He wanted to do his best all the time and that is in his head all the time.
The champion further said that when fame enters the head things start slipping down.
Masvidal vs Usman will be one of the fights of the year, and it will be interesting to see when this happens given the current coronavirus conditions.
