Zhang Weili showed off her intense training session where she can be seen hurling some brutal kicks, ahead of her fight against Rose Namajunas at UFC 261.
Weili is back in the octagon, after 13 months since her narrow bloodbath victory against Joanna Jędrzejczyk at UFC 248. The women’s strawweight champion will be going into her second title defense this weekend at UFC 261.
In her path stands, the former strawweight champion Rose Namajunas. Namajunas is coming off a victory against Jessica Andrade at UFC 251, wherein she avenged her loss to Andrade at UFC 237, to cement her position as the number one ranked strawweight contender.
Namajunas looks more determined than ever as she recently revealed that she would be bringing in added motivation in the form of ‘The American dream’ and her ‘Lithuanian roots’ into this fight. She even made a politically charged remark aimed at Weili.
But, Weili isn’t bothered by the tantrums thrown at her. She has just one thing in mind, keep her UFC record clean. The Chinese is still undefeated in her UFC career, with 5 wins, which included 1 title defense.
The powerful Weili recently posted a video on Instagram where she can be seen throwing ridiculously powerful kicks during a training session with her coaches. She also captioned the video, “Tomorrow we’ll switch cities and start fighting week. This is the last training here. Thanks to all the people we are a family.”
The Predator bats for Weili
No sooner did Zhang Weili post the video of her brutal leg kicks, than Francis Ngannou commented with fire emojis, showing his support for the Chinese. When the Predator acknowledges, you just listen!
The pair have been friends for quite a while, after first catching up at the UFC Performance Institute, soon after Weili won her strawweight title at UFC 248.
Like Francis, Weili is renowned for her power, and she will be bringing it to the fore against the submission artist Thug Rose.
