Max Holloway and Yair Rodriguez have been transported to hospital in update
Max Holloway and Yair Rodriguez put on a show for the fans around the world at the UFC Fight Night 197. A back in forth battle that went the distance gave us one of the best featherweight fights of all time. Both the fighters did their fair share of damage on each other with Rodriguez suffering noticeably more injuries than Holloway. Both Holloway and Rodriguez were transported to the hospital after their fight before being allowed to speak to the media.
Before being transported to the hospital, Rodriguez and the former featherweight champion shared a wholesome moment. The two were certainly very respectful towards each other after sharing the octagon for 25 minutes.
Rodriguez was returning to the octagon after two years and performed far better than anybody expected him to. The Mexican started the first round very strongly, however, Blessed picked the pace up as the fight went on. The fight went toe to toe and Holloway managed to edge past Rodriguez. He ended up winning via a unanimous decision with score of 49-46, 48-47 and 48-17.
What’s next for Max Holloway?
Before beating Rodriguez, Holloway was coming off from a very dominating victory against Calvin Kattar. Many considered this to be Holloway’s chance at the title shot once again. It is very likely that The Hawaiian gets yet another shot at the featherweight title against his old nemesis Alex Volkanovski.
It is worth noting that if the fights gets made, this will mark the trilogy between Holloway and Volkanovski. On previous two occasions, Holloway has failed to get the job done. However, the trilogy might just prove to be lucky for the Blessed.
